Editorial Policy

To help keep StartLocal® consistent and to ensure that your business gets approved as quickly as possible please ensure your listing conforms to the following:

  • Please do not write sections of your text in ALL CAPS. Proper sentence case should be used.
  • Please do not use profanity in your profile.
  • Please do not use HTML tags in your profile.
  • StartLocal does not allow adult content of any kind.
  • Please do not upload pornographic or illegal pictures or include a link to a website that contains either of these.

Please note that the above editorial policies are in addition to the terms and conditions.

To help us avoid declining your business by accident, if you think we'll have any doubts about whether it is a local business please include in your about section what type of local presence you provide so that people searching will know how they can reach you locally.

Online Business Terms

Online businesses must meet the following additional terms:

  • To be classified as an online business, the primary interaction between you and your customers must be your website.
  • You must include a working Australian phone number.
  • You must include an Australian postal address (not necessarily a physical address; this can be a PO Box).
  • Websites must sell products or services to Australians.
  • Your website must not sell prohibited or illegal products or services.
  • Your website must not be under construction.
  • The primary purpose of your website should be to offer a product or service for sale. Your website must not be advertisement heavy. (Info sites or sites consisting of mostly affiliate links will be rejected.)

StartLocal.com.au reserves the right to reject sites that have been listed solely for lead generation purposes. Spamming our directory with multiple sites for the one business will result in all of your profiles being removed.
